Is this an example of Amazon's 'optimized supply chain'

Don’t get me wrong: I love Amazon. I recently signed up for Amazon Prime and have been using the heck out of it. However one of my recent purchases is leaving me a little bit puzzled as to how they decide to ship things:

I live about 15 miles from Hebron, KY which is where my item was yesterday. Today it’s in Dayton, which is around 100 miles from my house. Who knows where it will be tomorrow since it’s not supposed to make it to my house for another 5 days!
