Finally – a practical application for a Stirling engine

As one who has built my fair share of my own PCs and someone who endured a Junior year of Engineering Thermodynamics, this story

Missing Lynx movie download has a special appeal to me.  I have always been fasinated with the working model stirling engines that you can sit on your desk, but until now have’t seen many real world applications.  This is a good one.

Search the web for Micro CHP (Combined Heat and Power). There are some interesting products that use heat to drive a stirling engine to produce electricity. There are also solar powered (via large focusing lenses) systems that focus light/heat and channel it to drive stirling engines to produce electricity. A lot more practical uses out there than what is readily apparent.
