Hopefully this will be one of the cases where the entry of an established net player like Google will validate the space and cause all boats to rise.  The vast amount of data in google earth and 3D warehouse was just too much to contain.  I wonder though, how property rights will work in this mashed up virtual world?  Can Microsoft “buy” the land that the Apple HQ is on in the real world and build a giant evil volcano?
Will definitely be interesting to watch, regardless.
