So, I have to say the biggest acheivement for me this year has been teaching my daughter how to ride a bike. She finally got it last night and I don’t think I’ve seen her smile so much since Christmas. We had originally bought her a new bigger bike without training wheels, but ended up reverting back to her smaller bike with training wheels to get her started (without the training wheels of course). Amazingly enough it only really took her about a week and she is doing great.
My wife took her through the last little bit (mainly getting rid of the fear of falling) before I got home last night and she was zooming around the cul-de-sac when I drove up. The really cool part was how proud she was of herself. I only hope she can keep that sense of self-pride…it will take her far.
