I had the honor of attending the memorial service for several friends of mine that were killed in a plane crash last Sunday. There were 10 souls that were lost, although I only knew 4 of them and of those 4, and 1 really well.
The memorials were all wonderful and were true celebrations of the lives that were lost. I left feeling very sad and yet strangely uplifted. Sad because I feel for the family members left behind. Having been through a death in my family last year due to a long illness, I can definately say that having family members pass with some warning is a much better situation than having them slip away in the flash of an eye. Uplifted, because I really took the message home that you have to be ready…be ready to go because no one knows when their time is going to be up.
I’ll miss my friends.
