Marshall Kirkpatrick over on Mike Arrington’s Tech Crunch blog has an interesting post about 2 new start-ups that aim to deliver visual collaboration services to aid in the design process. Sounds an awful lot like what PLM companies are trying to do. Upon further inspection these are some nice tools, but not quite what we talk about in the PLM world. However, it did make me stop and think about the language we use when we describe what our tools do. We really need to be as descriptive as possible, lest we be lumped in with a large group of software to which we have nothing in common.
