The virtual car show

GM is one of our biggest customers and this is one of the coolest things I have seen them do in a long time.  I have been thinking about the idea of the virtual car show for a while, and it looks like they may actually get there.  A few suggestions for them:

  • Let your designers try out all sorts of things in second life.  There is literally no downside.
  • Track what people say and look at.  Imagine what you can do with the data if you know which cars people are looking at, what features they like and what they are saying to each other while they look around.
  • Accept user created concepts.  There has to be some bar set, but don’t put it too high.  Your next great designer could be a 14 year old kid in New Guinea.
