A new gadget has made it’s way into my gadget bag: the Thinkoutside Bluetooth Stowaway keyboard. After some trial and error, I finally got it paired up with my T-mobile MDA (that thinks its a imate K-JAM). The secret was insalling the 4.5 drivers and hitting the “Disable built-in HID drivers” button in the install.
The device itslef is amazongly small. It’s one of those things you have to see to believe. I used it for about a half hour last noght for some light email and even an IM session without any problems. Obviously my typing speed was much higher than on the built in keyboard. I also noticed that my email replies where a little longer and more detailed than I would have created on the built-in. I guess that’s a good thing.
With the Stowaway, my MDA and One Note mobile beta (plus Microsoft Communicator, Email and all the other built in apps) I can definitely see some cases where I will be travelling very lightly and still be able to get a whole lot done.
